Hump Day: Over the Heel

Lay It on Thick

It seems that fashion trends are at odds and ends this season as we are experiencing style extremes walk the streets. While some of us will be treading on cloud nine in six inch stilettos, others will be taking a safer route in thick chunky platforms from simple to complex. Heel designs include, but are not limited to wooden, clear, and metallic.

Be fashionable. Be trendy. Be ready.

Owners Oscar Favorites....Kelly Rowland

Well, Kelly has done it again!

Although, my favorite is still her infamous black dress from the Grammys I do love this sleek black and white ensemble.

Wearing a Donna Karan Atelier dress complete with a thigh-high slit, she was completely stunning. The top white half is silk duchess satin that has a plastic futuristic finish on the back that gives it a modern edge. The silk gazar black skirt is a mock wrap that asymmetrically folds around into a deconstructed train.

Even though, Kelly ended up on a couple of the worst-dressed lists, I thought her look was tastefully done.

Owners Oscar Favorites...Jennifer Hudson

Attending the Oscars generally equates to everybody who is anybody putting their best foot forward wowing the onlookers with their stunning attire for the evening. The attendees this year did just that. There were several looks that I found to be exquisite, but my 2013 Oscar favorite was Jennifer Hudson.

J Hud, as she is she is often called, brought with her an airy elegance that swept the red carpet and those standing on it away. According to Hudson, her fitting sessions were three hours long for three long days until she deemed the gown a winner. I am telling you designer Roberto Cavalli won’t be going anywhere but up on the list of designers of the decade.

Be Well Dressed.

American Heart Month

I find it no coincidence that February shines love upon Valentine’s Day while also being recognized as American Heart Month. As consumers, tons of material items become objects of our affection. However, in February we should reflect on what lies deeper in our hearts. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has enlightened us with four heart healthy tips that we would love to share with you!

Today’s Tip:
Dedicate to Meditate At your day’s end devote about fifteen minutes of your time to unwinding and releasing of tension built up from your busy schedule. Relaxation slows your heart allowing it to lessen its workload in turn decreasing your feelings of stress and anxiousness.

Be rested. Be Calm. Be Relaxed

Fashion Fight

Are You a Gladiator?

I am definitely a contender in the battle of determining

how I feel about the 2013 gladiator sandal with heel trend.

I welcome change with open arms. However, I am also a

firm believer that when things aren’t broken then don’t fix

them. I adore gladiator sandals of all sorts, but I feel

fashionably displaced when it comes to adding stiletto and

stacked heels to what is already a dramatic leg climbing,

calf wrapping monstrosity of a shoe. Love them or hate

them they are sure to be seen everywhere says the runway.

Be creative. Be embracing. Be determined.

Hump Day: Over The Heel

The Sky Is The Limit

Shoot for the stars and at worst land on the clouds and

hope that they provide enough cushion to soothe your

six inch soles. This year, 2013, promises to bring with it the highest

heels to hit the runway totaling up to seven inches tall. Plan to

purchase your personal skyscrapers in the form of classy, sexy, chic

pointy-toe pumps in an array of textures and colors.

Be stylish. Be uplifted. Be careful J

What’s Your Attitude?

Merriam-Webster defines attitude as the mental position and emotion toward a fact or state. It goes a little further to say that one’s attitude can also be defined by your body posture. A plethora of today’s fashion offerings definitely make statements for us before we put them on, allowing our bodies to ad lib. Garments have a special way of making you feel classy, sexy, daring, and even bold bringing out an attitude that you may not normally convey on the daily. Everyone should embark upon the opportunity to look and feel incredible in the clothes that adorn them while feeling equally comfortable in the skin that you are in.
As you embrace the attitude that your personal style affords you, be sure to incorporate a little gratitude in that ensemble. Gratitude is known to positively alter your mood and grant you a longer healthier life. An attitude of gratitude might just be the perfect accessory to compliment your look this season.

Be kind. Be free. Be you!

Super Bowl Mardi Gras!

What do you get when red, purple, gold and green collide? A colorful mixture of excitement where the Superbowl meets super fun in Sin City. As if New Orleans' nightlife isn't already full of color, this weekend and the one to follow promises to be an exacerbation of familiar fun. The streets, avenues, and boulevards are saturated with onlookers and participants of the 2013 NFL Experience where the Baltimore Ravens and the San Fransisco 49ers compete.

A crowded convention center and densely packed Canal Street definitely call for wardrobe evaluation. And with New Orleans' Mardi Gras season in full swing, that is all the more reason to trade in those high heels for funky flats. You can jazz up your look with a pair of over sized sunglasses and a medium sized tote that should carry a scarf and light weight sweater just in case the weather puts you on it's usual roller coaster ride that New Orleans residents know all too well.

Before your fun fizzles and you are party-pooped-out, be sure to make your way Uptown for some great shopping! 3501 Tchoupitoulas Street is a petite boutique with grand style!
